Acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks in the middle of the 2024-25 season, Melvin Fernstrom took some time to adjust to level of play in the SHL–the top league in Sweden–but finished the season with 17 points in 48 games, including nine points in 16 games following the trade, and earned SHL rookie of the year honors. The 6’2″, 190 lbs. winger scores goals but needs to work on speed and consistency in the defensive zone while looking to improve with Orebro HK in the 2025-26 season.
